How to Choose the Right Subwoofer Boxes for Sale
Subwoofer boxes are not just containers designed to house the speakers. They must be designed to optimize the sound quality and reduce noise and unwanted vibrations. The power that a good sub can give is enough to distort and even rip a poorly designed one. The materials must be good enough to hold the sub together. The way the whole container is sealed will also determine the quality of the sound.
The Sealed Box
There are generally three types of containers used on subwoofers. They are categorized according to how the container is covered. The first type is the sealed subwoofer. The speaker is placed on the box facing outward. The back of the speaker remains in such a way that there are no spaces left for air to get in and out of the container.
The advantage of the sealed one is that it can handle very low frequencies and therefore produces very crispy sound. On the flip side, the sealed container needs more power to produce sound. The other advantage is that it can produce a powerful bass with only a limited amount of space making it suitable for small spaces.
The vented box
The other type is vented or ported boxes. They are sealed all round like in the sealed containers, but a small space or vent is left on the side of the box. The advantage of the ported is box is that it is easy to fine tune it. Using different dimensions the desired frequency can be achieved with a lot of accuracy. It also has a higher bass output. The disadvantage is that it requires a large space and may take a good part of your cars interior.
The Hybrid Band bass
There is another hybrid combination of the two that is referred to as a band bass. The construction of the box is such that it has a dual design with onside containing the vented and the other side containing the sealed. With the right kind of speaker it can produce an incredible bass that is sometimes higher than what comes out of a sealed box.
